The instructional focus of sixth grade English will include: vocabulary development, reading strategies, literary analysis, fluency, grammar, and writing. We will be reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction literature with media, poetry, and drama connections. We will also develop our writing skills across the modes. Our purpose is to develop students who are critical thinkers, analytical readers, and proficient writers.
